Designed in partnership with the National Federation of the Blind, UNO Braille features braille on the corner of each playing card to indicate the card's color and number or action.

Finding a job when you have a disability can be an overwhelming experience. There is so much to consider. Will working mean losing Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Social Security Insurance (SSI)? Fortunately, there is a program called Ticket To Work and it solely exists for situations like these! The Ticket To Work program helps people with disabilities between the ages of 18 to 64 prepare for and enter the workforce. This can include defining job skills, preparing for interviews, and preparing for work life.

This legislation permits the Access Board to establish nonvisual accessibility guidelines for manufacturers, conduct training on these guidelines, and give authority to appropriate agencies to enforce these guidelines pertaining to home use medical devices, exercise equipment, and home appliances.

This week we need to call our senators and representative about the Transformation to Competitive Employment Act, House - H.R. 873 - Sponsored by Bobby Scott (D-VA-3) - 52 cosponsors - Senate - S. 260 - Sponsored by Bob Casey (D-PA) - 7 cosponsors. These bills would phase out Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act over a six-year period.

The United States House and Senate are now back in session and there is no better time to rally support for our legislative priorities. Congress will be in session until the two week break at the beginning of October. That gives us exactly three weeks to build serious cosponsor support for our three legislative priorities. Since we have three weeks and three pieces of legislation, we're going to focus on one issue per week. This week's top legislative priority is the Access Technology Affordability Act.

The NFB Newsline of Indiana team is offering a grant incentive opportunity to assist members and nonmembers to attend our 2019 state convention, being held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on the weekend of October 25-27. Room rates this year are $89 per night plus tax and the banquet is $40.00. The grant incentive opportunity is to offset some of the expenses inccurred for rooms and the banquet cost. We want to share the NFB Indiana experience with individuals who are curious and want to learn more about the National Federation of the Blind.

Detroit (September 3, 2019): Maryann Murad, a blind Howell Michigan resident, and the National Federation of the Blind, have filed suit in the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan against Amazon.com for employment discrimination. Amazon is the world's largest Internet retailer and currently employs more than 647,000 people worldwide. In the first quarter of 2019 it earned approximately $59.7 billion in revenue.
