Indiana NFB 2020 Scholarship Program Finalist

We congradulate Indiana resident Marie Villaneda, pursuing her goal of becoming an Orientation and Mobility Instructor; one of thirty finalists for the National Federation of the Blind annual scholarship program, providing financial assistance and connecting students with mentoring and other resources.

Vocation specialties of the thirty finalists include:
Access Technology Specialist, Actuary, Animal Genetics and Conservation Research, Anthropology, Broadcasting, Civil Rights, Corporate Law, Disability Law, Education, Electrical Engineer, Finance and Technology (FinTech), Forensic Pathology, Human rights, Higher Education Student Affairs Administrator, Inclusive Advertising, Information Technology, Languages, Mechanical Engineer, Media Production, Medical Scientist, Museum Accessibility, Music Education, Orientation and Mobility Instructor, Psychology, Public Health Policy and Management, Public Service, Vision Rehabilitation Therapist and Vocational Rehabilitation Instructor.

"The scholarship program is one of our most important initiatives, and we will not allow anything - including the COVID19 pandemic - to diminish our commitment to recognizing excellence among blind students," said Mark A. Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind. "We are proud to honor these blind scholars, each of whom are raising expectations and breaking down barriers. The accomplishments of these outstanding students are proof that we, the blind of this nation, can live the lives we want; blindness does not hold us back."
